Sydney Time -
- Australia has its own
Direct
Selling Association. As a former prosecutor I
found this interesting: Under the
Code of Ethics,
distributors are not allowed to contact clients
on a Sunday or Public Holiday, before 9:00am or
after 8:00pm on a weekday, nor before 9:00am or
after 5:00pm on a Saturday.

- I did a search on
myspace.com
and found some great Australian contacts. I even
started a conversation with a family in Australia
who is now interested in learning more about
my business!
Leighann M.
- As an Aussie now living in the
U.S., I wanted you to know that Network Marketing
is a relatively new concept to many in my country...
Education is going to be key.

- Q: I have about 23 contacts (online relationships)
in Australia. Since I can't set up personal appointments, do
you have any prospecting advice for me? I'm already using
Future Choice, so I'll include
it with the information I send. What else would you suggest?
Becky S.
A: Follow the instructions in
Your Prospecting Toolbox and
Seven Prospecting Secrets, and then follow-up using the
steps spelled out in Build It BIG,
and you'll be just fine!
- I found this
article on the web and thought it might be of
interest to your subscribers.

According to the Australian Government Equal Opportunities
and Human Rights Commission: "Despite a decade or more of
economic growth and prosperity, many Australians say they
are not living the lives they want. They feel pressured,
stressed and constrained in the choices they can make,
particularly at key points in their lives." Europe,
Australia, and Canada are all much more aware of
problems with workplace stress than the USA, where
the attitude persists that business is purely about
making money—and anyone who can't cope with that
better get out. It's fine to be on your own when
you are ahead of the pack; not so good to be behind
everyone else....
- I married an Aussie three years
ago and moved to SE Australia... We live about
three hours NE of Melbourne in a community of
about 90,000 people called
Albury-Wodonga. Network Marketing is alive and well here and
people LOVE attending "parties." Now that could
be something more prominent in the rural areas,
but the Aussies love any chance to get together.
Morning and afternoon tea (coffee breaks) are
taken very seriously. Even the kids at school
have morning tea! Americans can be viewed as
rather brash... Although, I haven't been snubbed
as an American, people are suspicious until they
get to know me. Aussies are very friendly on the
outside, but deep down are very wary about Americans.

- I had a sponsoring interview on
the telephone last night with a women in
Melbourne.
She told me that Australians are very much into
doing classes. Thanks for all your wisdom and insight.

- Here's a great
Website you may want to share for anyone wanting
to learn more about Australia.

- Michael, my question is this: If we
ask, ask, ask, and do find people we can contact,
is it okay to send them to the events without us
personally being there ourselves? Or is this just
asking for trouble?
Lisa A.
Lisa: If everyone who had contacts needed to personally
fly to Australia, building a business long-distance
wouldn't work. Now, it's your responsibility to educate
your contacts (or prospects) on the "Get back with the
person who invited you..." part of the prospecting process.
And it's also your responsibility to follow-up with your
contacts—before and after the event. In other words,
create the relationship first,
so your prospects know to get back with you, or that
you’ll get back with them after the event. MSC
- I loved what you said about working
locally to go globally! I found my first person who
has relationships with people in Australia. We are
meeting for dinner. Here we go!
Janine Y.
- One of my consultants has an
Australian country music singer that has been
using our products for years... She shared with
me that Aussies appreciate an honest, sincere
approach, and also mentioned they respond better
to the words, party, get together, or reception,
rather than class or presentation.
