Goals must contain three elements:

  1. Goals Must Be In WritingYour goals must be in writing. If they are not in writing then simply call them what they actually are: desire, wish, hope, one day….

Your goals must be: a) written out word for word, b) written in present-tense language, and c) your words must create a strong visual image in your mind’s eye.

  2. Goals Must Be Better Than Your BestYou cannot have a goal to earn $5,000 every month. You can, however have a goal to earn $60,000 this year.
  3. Goals Must Be ObtainableCan you relate to it? Because if you can relate to it, you probably can achieve it…

The 12th Secret: Ensuring All Your Dreams Come True is realizing that you must:

  1. decide what you want
  2. create a plan to achieve what you want, and
  3. your plan (or goal) must be in writing, better than your best, and obtainable.

Assignment: Stop kidding yourself! Either: Invest time to:

  1. decide what you want
  2. come up with a reasonable plan to get what you want and
  3. go to work on the action steps + the acquisition of knowledge (the getting-better-personal-development-part) to get what you want… Or just be honest with yourself and acknowledge the fact that you really don’t want it that bad. Because it really is as simple as Either – Or! Because only when you go to work on your plan, and begin gaining the knowledge, only then will you fully understand what I mean….

All the best,

MSC

P.S. And now it’s your turn! Read the books, listen to the CDs, take the classes, and build something magnificent!

People are always asking, “How do you become a great leader?” And although there are many “correct” answers to this question, the following formula will help you—along with those you choose to teach on your team—become a great leader.

Accountability

“Let your ‘Yes!’ mean ‘Yes!’ ” “Under promise and over deliver.” “Keep your word.” Quotes and phrases abound that all attempt to make the same point: Be accountable!

So why is accountability so important in our business? Because you can’t fire that new Associate!

J.O.B. vs. Y.O.B. (Your Own Business)

Who are you accountable to? Who are those on your team accountable to? And how is your current plan—or lack of a plan—working for you?

And if you don’t have the accountability portion handled, here’s a great suggestion: The “one e-mail a day” story!

Leaders have something in place that allows them to be personally accountable. What’s your accountability plan?

Activity

The process of doing… People will follow your lead if they believe that you’re going to the same destination (story of hitch-hiker and the car that turns around = bad news) What are your goals? And is your current level of activity enough to get you from where you are now, to that future destination we call living an extraordinary life?

Two CDs a day into the marketplace, leads, Internet, etc.

Action

Getting better at the game… In all three areas:

  1. Association: Who are you around (in person, or on television, at the movies—Blockbuster on a Friday night—in books, CDs/audiotapes, etc.)? What are they doing to you? And is this okay with you?
  2. Personal Development: What are you reading, listening to, and taking (classes)? Leaders are always in the process of reading a book, listening to CDs, and taking classes. Leaders have a “Get Better” budget, and invest it in themselves monthly. What’s your “Get Better” budget?
  3. Leaders quickly apply what they are learning, and what works for them—and then they in turn teach what they have learned to others. What are you learning, and to whom are you sharing all that you have learned?

The 10th Secret: Effective Leadership, and how to create it, is all about Accountability, Activity and Action. It is the understanding that people will only follow you if you have a reasonable plan, and they can clearly see that your plan is taking you where you desire to go. And that if they get on board with you, your plan will take them where they want to go too. Leaders have a vision. Leaders paint a clear picture of the future.

Assignment: Consider what we’ve just discussed, and then using the notes you’ve taken, combined with the notes above…answer each question we’ve just discussed, making sure, again, your answers would cause someone to want to join you on your journey towards that magnificent life!

All the best,

MSC

P.S. And now it’s your turn! Read the books, listen to the CDs, take the classes, and build something magnificent!

F.E.A.R – False Expectations Appearing Real.
Because confidence is preparation’s twin, to overcome any fear, you must:
1) understand the beast, and 2) tame the beast.

Three areas of prospecting:

  1. Hot Market – Close family & friends.
  2. Warm Market – Those you know well.
  3. Cold Market – Those you don’t know at all.

Three kinds of prospectors:

  1. Prospectors who don’t want to call Close Family & Friends, but will call their Warm Market and may reluctantly do Cold Market prospecting.
  2. Prospectors who don’t want to call Close Family & Friends, or their Warm Market, but claim that they want to do Cold Market prospecting.
  3. Prospectors who do only Cold Market prospecting.

Get and use the right tools… Here are the prospecting tools you will need to win the prospecting game: The formula for mastering the prospecting game and effortlessly creating two new prospects everyday is…

1 part mental preparation
2 parts desire & motivation
6 parts meeting-and-greeting-people skills

This business is not about “getting people in.” This business is about “keeping people in.” So what’s the best way to “keep people in?” Take the time to get them involved. Take the time to create a lasting relationship.

So how do you create successful relationships? Let’s discuss three steps we can take—and then let’s take a simple “How am I doing in this relationship area of my business?” test.

  • Step #1: Get them involved in attending your weekly business briefings.

Do your new distributors know where and when these events take place—and do they know why they should attend?

  • Step #2: Get them involved in listening to your team’s weekly conference calls.

Again, do they know what number to dial, what time to call, and what benefits they will receive if they take the time to listen in?

  • Step #3: Get them involved in their own personal development program.

Read 10 pages of a good book everyday. Do they know what they should be reading? [Nexera.com Your Library] Listen to a 30 minute CD program everyday. Do they know what they should be hearing? [Nexera.com Your 90-Day Game Plan] Get them to attend one class per quarter—that will take them from where they are now, to where they truly desire to go. Have you suggested that they register for the next Mastermind event? Suggest something!

  • If you simply spend a little more time with each new customer, and invest a little more time with each new distributor you personally sponsor, your business will begin to grow even faster…

Discover the reason(s) they want your product (what we call their product “Why?”) and/or the reason(s) they want to be involved with you in the business (their business “Why?”). And if you can just keep them in the game until they taste some success—and get that first bonus check—they may choose to stick around a little longer, and may even become your next superstar!

So how can you tell if you’re winning the relationship game? Well I want you to take this simple—and yet extremely telling—little four-part relationship test. Let me review this with you, and then take the test yourself!

    1. Write down the names of the top five to ten leaders, or potential leaders, on your team… And if you’re just getting started, simply list the names of your top five to ten potential distributors.
    2. Next, for each name you’ve listed, how many of the following seven questions can you successfully answer? Do you know:
      1. where do they work?
      2. what do they do for a living?
      3. what is the name of their spouse?
      4. what are the names of their children?
      5. what recreational activity do they most enjoy?
      6. why are they involved with you in this business?
      7. what is the color of the carpet in their living room?
    3. To build stronger relationships—and a stronger team: pick up the telephone and call the first person on your list, have a conversation about questions 1 – 6 only, and prepare to be a bit surprised at what you learn. Continue this assignment with each person you’ve listed, and then incorporate this relationship building exercise with all those you continue to sponsor.
    4. Make arrangements to discover—in person—the answer to question #7: What is the color of the carpet in their living room? Because in our business, this is the single most important relationship question there is… Your answer to this one question speaks volumes as to whether you will struggle or succeed in your business long-term. Because the faster you learn How To Create Successful Relationships—and then create them—the sooner you will build the life and lifestyle you truly desire!
    5. The 4th Secret: How To Create Successful Relationships is the fundamental understanding that this business is not about “getting people in.” This business is about “keeping people in.” And what’s the best way to “keep people in?” Get them involved, and then get to know them—for who they are, and for who they would like to become.
    6. Assignment: Your assignment: take the four-part relationship test, and then make your relationship-building calls.

      All the best,

      MSC

P.S. And now it’s your turn! Read the books, listen to the CDs, take the classes, and build something magnificent!

      Miscellaneous:
      2 hours a day
      14 hours a week 20 hours remaining!

Most people spend 20+ hours watching Television!

So what about you? Do you know where all your time goes? As leaders, we realize that we must find a way to invest some time building the business. But what is the secret of using time to your advantage?

Ask people: “How long have you been in the business?”

The answer: “We got started in January…” or “About four years now…” or “We just got started last week.” And so on, and so forth.

Did you notice the commonality? Well, every answer from a time standpoint was linear. Meaning measured in one dimension only! Translation: we all seem to think of “our time in this business” as it relates to the calendar! And the calendar is every distributors enemy.

The Old Ben Franklin Balance Sheet Close

Now imagine that David and Mary both joined your company on January 1, 2000. Therefore, from a linear standpoint, they have both been around for the same period of time, say, three years. But let’s compare their success and see if the years have anything to do with it:

      David vs. Mary

      Start Date: 1-1-2000 vs. 1-1-2000

Number of personal contacts: 4 vs. 100

Number of tools in the marketplace: 7 vs. 1,560
      (2-a-day / 5 days a week / 3 years)

      Number of two-on-one presentation: 0 vs. 28

Number of weekly events attended: 5 vs. 150

Number of trainings attended: 1 vs. 30

Number personally sponsored: 1 vs. 36 (1 per month)

Number in organization: 2 vs. 1,548

Number of books read: 1 vs. 36 (one/month)

Number of audio programs: 0 vs. 18 (every other month)

Number of classes taken: 1 vs. 9 (one per quarter)

Income per month: vs. $0.00 month vs. $5,780 month

Considers themselves involved: Sort of vs. Yes

Because “It’s Not How Long – It’s How Many.”

      Old New
      Days Tools in the marketplace
Weeks Presentations made – event attended
Months Distributors sponsored, products/services sold, books read
Years Size of the organization, tools, events, books, tapes, classes

The 1st Secret: Using Time To Your Advantage is knowing 1) where it (time) all goes and 2) that it’s not how long—it’s how many… How many tools did you get into the marketplace? How many presentations were made? How many events were attended? How many distributors were sponsored? How many products or services were sold? How many books readaudio programs listened to, and classes taken? How many?

Begin teaching those around you to think “How Many?”

Assignment: For the next seven days, keep track of your time—in writing. The time you spend sleeping, working your full-time job, commuting, eating, the time spent with your family, the time you spend on entertainment, and keep track of your miscellaneous time, along with the time you actually spend building your business—what we call revenue-producing activity. There are 168 hours in the week, and as a leader, you should have some idea where it all goes.

And then put together your activity list—just like the one we discussed between David and Mary. Record the revenue-producing activities that are important to you and to your team.

      All the best,

      MSC
